171 days in prison for nothing

A 16-year-old Palestinian shepherd from the southern Hebron Hills

has spent almost six months in jail on suspicion of rape. Even though an eyewitness to the attack

had told police that it was not possible that the teen could be responsible for the rape.

However, he has no wbeen released after 171 days in custody but those believed to be the real perpetrators remain at large.

A cell phone which was stolen from the victim at the time of the attack could have been used to trace the perpetrators  but police bungled this by failing to use this method.
