A Palestinian Father Wonders Why the Israeli Army Had to Kill His 14-year-old Son



For Arkan Muzhir’s 15th birthday on August 20, his father Thaer planned to buy him a phone. The elder Muzhir uses the Hebrew word for cellphone, pelefon.

But four weeks before his son’s birthday, during a raid on the Deheisheh refugee camp before dawn on Monday July 23, an Israeli soldier shot Arkan.
